SHREVEPORT, La. -- It’s the kind of presentation that can make eyes glaze over -- spreadsheets, acronyms, and long explanations.

But buried in the fine print of Shreveport's latest audit are warning signs that affect taxpayers’ wallets and the city’s financial health.

The 2024 audit shows federal funding handled by the city fell from $286 million in 2023 to just $54 million in 2024. While some programs passed cleanly, auditors gave the city a modified opinion on federal recovery funds for missing oversight checks and submitting inaccurate reports - basically an accountant's language for "warning."
