DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A collision involving a train has closed intersections in Durham during the afternoon commute on Tuesday, police said.
The crash was reported just after 5:45 p.m. along railroad tracks near the intersection of West Main Street and Swift Avenue.
Durham police did not say if the train crash involved a car, a pedestrian, or another train.
The two intersections are closed until further notice, according to a Durham Police Department news release: • Ninth Street at West Main Street • Swift Avenue at West Pettigrew Street
"Motorists are asked to find alternate routes," police said in the release.
An NCDOT cam along N.C. 147 earlier indicated a traffic back-up on the Swift Avenue overpass. However, by 6:15 p.m., no vehicles were on the overpass.
