QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy City Council unanimously approved the renewal of the Flock camera program in the city.

“The cameras will be where they are. They will be used like we’ve used them over the last two years,” Quincy Police Department Chief Adam Yates said.

At last Monday’s city council meeting, Yates laid out how beneficial the program has been in terms of recovering stolen vehicles and finding people of interest.

“For us, the benefit is just continuing the contract, keeping the technology and hopefully continuing to have good outcomes,” Yates added.

The cameras take pictures of the back of cars. For data security, Yates said he has taken special precautions to ensure data security.
