An Oklahoma physician is urging pregnant women to continue using acetaminophen when medically necessary, despite recent comments from President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggesting the drug may be linked to autism.
Dr. Julie Strebl, president-elect of the Oklahoma State Medical Association, told News 9’s Scott Mitchell that the claims made during a White House press conference this week are not supported by scientific evidence.
“When we try to link certain conditions to certain environmental factors or medications, a link is just a possibility. It is not causation,” Strebl said. “At this stage of the game, this potential link is not enough to admonish pregnant women or to keep them from treating themselves when they need to for fever or pain.”
