FARMVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - This season, Farmville Central has a girl playing football for them for the first time in school history. Her name is Madison Denham.
“It was a little nerve-racking at first,” Denham said, “And then people were really excited to hear a girl was the kicker.”
After playing soccer for years, Madison agreed to try football last Spring, bringing her total up to six different sports this year.
As a result of practicing every day this summer, she expanded her field goal range to 40 yards in practice and earned her coach’s trust in the process.
“A very tough athlete, period, not just a girl,” Coach Ron Cook said, “Once she decided she wanted this, she put her mind and foot to it.”
This season, Madison is 8/8 on clean extra point attempts and has kicked off 19 times ov
