After 260 games as the head coach of Oklahoma State football , the school has fired Mike Gundy . Now, the school is on its first true search for a head coach since 2000, when Bob Simmons resigned after the season. Filling the shoes of Mike Gundy may be difficult. He has become synonymous with Oklahoma State. Gundy played quarterback for the Cowboys from 1986-89, before joining the coaching staff in 1990. He would be with the school through 1995 before stopping at Baylor and Maryland. After Simmons resigned following the 2000 season, Gundy and Les Miles were candidates for the Oklahoma State job.
