CHANDLER, Ariz. — The City of Chandler is partnering with Waymo to have the company's autonomous cars help provide rides in the East Valley community.

Earlier this month, city officials announced Waymo would be helping to provide rides ordered through Chandler Flex , an on-demand transportation service that allows passengers to request a ride within the city's designated service zone.

During periods of high demand throughout the day, Chandler Flex may match a rider with a self-driving Waymo car instead of a Flex vehicle.

Chandler Flex rides typically cost $2 and the service is available Monday through Friday. For a limited time, Chandler Flex rides delivered through Waymo will cost just $1.
