TORONTO — The Red Sox have already shown they’re willing to promote their top young pitchers to the majors if they think they can help the big league club win. Over the past month they’ve done so with Payton Tolle, Connelly Early and most recently Kyle Harrison.
Could Luis Perales be next?
Regarded as Boston’s top pitching prospect before undergoing Tommy John surgery last June, the 22-year-old right-hander recently returned to the mound and has quickly flashed the same tantalizing stuff that once made him a Top 100 prospect. He made one appearance in Double-A before being promoted to Triple-A, where he hit 99.8 mph on the radar gun and struck out three in his WooSox debut.
