North Vancouver police are asking for witnesses after a woman was punched in the face by a stranger as she waited at a bus stop.
Mounties said the woman and her partner were waiting for a bus on the northwest corner of Marine Drive and Bewicke Avenue at around 5:30 a.m. last Friday when a man walked across Marine Drive and punched the woman in the face.
The attack was unprovoked, said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak of North Vancouver RCMP. No words were exchanged between the couple and the attacker.
“This was a shocking and distressing incident for the victim, and we recognize the impact it can have on a person’s sense of safety,” he said.
The woman was injured, but did not require hospitalization.
The couple quickly boarded a bus that arrived shortly after the assault.
