STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Nearly 200 residents lugged out bulky bundles of personal papers to safely dispose of during the latest free shredding event sponsored by District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, the Staten Island Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the New York City Department of Sanitation last week.

The event was held Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Parking Lot 6 on Father Capodanno Boulevard and Seaview Avenue in Ocean Breeze.

“While scheming scammers continue to adopt new tactics meant to swindle our neighbors and loved ones each and every day, hundreds of our fellow Staten Islanders joined us on Wednesday to take a proactive step to ensure their public safety, disposing of their sensitive and personal paperwork and documents,” McMahon said.
