UPDATE: Armed suspect near IUSB now in custody

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police Department says its Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation into Monday night's domestic disturbance and shots fired case near Indiana University South Bend.

On Tuesday, South Bend Police Department said the suspect is in custody and there is no active threat.

On Monday night, just after 8 pm, South Bend police responded to the 1000 block of S 23rd St for the report of a domestic disturbance. Police were told that someone reportedly discharged a firearm, then got into a vehicle.

Shortly after that, the vehicle reportedly crashed in the near Northside Boulevard and Clover St
