EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In the early hours of Sunday morning, police responded to a call about a stolen car at the intersection of Virginia Street and Highway 41.

During the response, a shooting seriously hurt officer Sam Taylor.

His brother Josh, spoke to 14 News about his younger brother, wanting people to know him as a person, and not just a name.

“He’s got a family, he’s in this for the right reasons, he’s one of the good guys,” Josh stated. “It’s untrue to say otherwise, you know. I’m very proud of him, my family and community are very proud of him.”

Josh Taylor is also a police officer, working with the Greensburg Police Department.

Taylor says his brother has always wanted to serve others, joining the military right out of high school, then later becoming an officer.
