PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Illinois State Legislators met Tuesday for a luncheon and panel, discussing issues the Midwest region is facing and how they plan to tackle them.
The event was held at the Marriott in downtown Peoria and was hosted by the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce. State lawmakers gathered, as well as community members, to hear what they had to say about issues.
The panel consisted of Senator John Curran, the Illinois State Minority Leader, and Senator Elgie Sims, who is also the state's Chief Budgeter. Representatives Jehan Gordon-Booth and Dave Koehler were also present.
Housing was a main topic of the panel, discussing ways to improve housing in Peoria and ways to preemptively control rising rent costs. Ways to help small businesses succeed and thrive were also a topic of
