MADISON, Wis. -- A man faces criminal charges after Madison police said he sexually assaulted a woman in 2013.

According to police, the assault occurred in the 200 block of South Hancock Street just after 2 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2013. A woman told officers she was out at a concert when she became separated from her friends and was approached by an unknown man who offered to help.

Police said the man proceeded to attack and sexually assault the woman in a parking lot. The woman was taken to a hospital.

According to a criminal complaint, the woman told police that she had been speaking with her eventual attacker for about an hour after losing track of her friend. She said that, at one point, she thought he put something in her drink because she began to feel like she was on acid.
