Commuters heading to work face heavy delays following a crash on a major road in Perth’s northern suburbs and multiple reports of debris along the freeway.

Authorities arrived at the Marmion Avenue scene just before 7am on Wednesday, responding to a vehicle crash just after Reid Highway.

Police and towing services are on-site and have shut down southbound traffic in response to the incident, leaving a single lane open.

The crash caused damage to a road sign, with Main Roads stating that emergency repairs would be carried out this morning.

Motorists are warned of heavy traffic and congestion in the area, urging drivers to find alternate routes where possible.

Debris and fallen loads have also caused traffic mayhem on Mitchell and Kwinana freeways.
