INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The City of Independence named an interim police chief on Tuesday, a month after former police chief Adam Dustman decided to step down.
Doug Brinkley will now step in as the interim police chief after a nationwide search was conducted by the city.
He was most recently the assistant city manager in Sugar Land, Texas – a city he spent 15 years in, also filling the assistant chief of police and chief of police roles during his tenure.
Brinkley spent time in police departments in Michigan and Texas. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, with 20 years of law enforcement leadership experience.
