GBH reports an immigration judge has ruled that Paul Dama, manager of Nubian Square's Suya Joint - owned by his sister - and married to an American citizen, "is eligible for asylum and can remain in the United States, potentially clearing the way for his release from federal custody."

Dama, who had begun the process of getting a Green Card, was grabbed by ICE in June, even as he was awaiting word on his asylum request.

To be eligible for asylum, an applicant has to show a legitimate fear for his life or of persecution back in his birth country; Dama had been kidnapped and tortured by Boko Haram, a militant Muslim group in his native Nigeria.
