WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - Half of the City of Waterbury will be without water as officials fix a 30-inch water main break on Huntingdon Avenue.

According to the mayor’s office, the city currently has a broken air relief valve on its 30-inch high pressure transmission main.

“In order to achieve shutdown, the water treatment plant must be shut down,” city officials said. “Once off, we hope to restore water as quickly as possible.”

The mayor’s office says about half of the city will be without power for about an hour while the issue is resolved.
