CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) - It wasn’t October baseball, but it was a good substitute until the Cincinnati Reds actually get there. But in the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the question of whether the Reds get to October in 2025 remained uncertain.

Riding a five-game winning streak that saw Cincinnati climb into a playoff position Sept. 21 via tie-break procedures, the Reds on Sept. 23 fell to the Pirates, 4-2, at Great American Ball Park. According to our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer , a crowd of 29,847 attended the game, which was critical to Cincinnati’s postseason push.

Pittsburgh dented the mood inside the ball park in the second inning. The Pirates plated four runs against Cincinnati starter Brady Singer, capped with a two-run home run to left field by Oneil Cruz.
