ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Public Health has confirmed three new cases of measles in the state — all connected to a Fulton County resident who tested positive on Sept. 11.

Health officials say all three individuals had close contact with the original patient. Two of the new cases involve people who are unvaccinated, while the vaccination status of the third person is still unknown.

According to DPH, all three individuals are currently isolating at home.

Measles is highly contagious and can spread quickly among those who are not vaccinated.

Symptoms often include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive rash. Complications can be serious, especially for young children and those with weakened immune systems.
