ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) - The Lorain County Sheriff's Office has been upgrading its security systems to catch up with other agencies and address the threat posed by modern terrorism.

The decision to place a wall of concrete barriers in front of the sheriff's office was made after Sheriff Jack Hall attended the annual conference of the National Sheriff's Association and received a briefing from the Department of Homeland Security.

DHS indicated that U.S. intelligence picked up chatter from foreign and domestic terrorist groups, discussing attacks on targets around the country using their latest deadly weapon of choice.

"The way that things have been happening nationally, when you're having vehicles, trucks running into buildings, just to cause damage or injury," said LCSO Major A.J. Torres.
