When Jeff Budd was elected Tamworth Regional Council's deputy mayor, he spoke of being humbled by the support and described it as "quite an honour".

On Tuesday night, the first-time councillor was endorsed to serve in the role for another 12 months .

"It's great to have the support of my fellow councillors and [I] look forward to continuing the good work we've been doing over the last 12 months, and continue to make Tamworth a prosperous and iconic place to be," he told media on Wednesday morning.

The vote for who would fill the chair as mayor Russell Webb's deputy was conducted as part of Tuesday's ordinary meeting.

Cr Budd was nominated by Cr Matt Sharpham and Cr Webb to continue in the role.
