NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — North Little Rock City Council Member Nathan Hamilton of Ward 1 is calling for a bold step toward government transparency: a publicly accessible “online checkbook” that would allow residents to track city spending in real-time.

Citing increasing public demand for greater financial transparency, Hamilton voiced frustration over a lack of open data and rushed decision-making during recent council meetings. One example he highlighted was the sale of a city-owned property appraised at nearly $1 million, which was ultimately sold for just $25,000.
