A St George's Basin man's midnight McDonald's craving has landed him in court after being caught for drink driving at a drive-through.

James Deeney, 60, pleaded guilty at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, September 23, to driving with a high-range blood-alcohol concentration and while disqualified.

Police documents presented to the court said Deeney was more than three times over the legal limit when he went through the McDonald's drive-through on Plunkett Street during the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Magistrate Lisa Viney said it was "mind-boggling" that Deeney thought he could drive with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.191.

"You were brought to the attention of the police because of your level of intoxication," Ms Viney said.
