PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A 5-year-old girl drowned in a lake late Tuesday morning, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office announced.

Deputies responded to the 20000 block of NE Lakeside Drive in Fairview after receiving a report of a child in the lake.

Authorities arrived to find the girl unresponsive.

"Fire personnel immediately began administering life-saving measures, including CPR. These efforts continued in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Unfortunately, the child could not be revived," MCSO said. "Current indications are that this was a tragic accident with no signs of foul play or criminal factors," officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
