PORTLAND, Ore. — The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a young girl died in Fairview Lake on Tuesday morning, according to the agency.

Deputies and crews from the Gresham Fire Department responded just before 11:30 a.m. to a home on Northeast Lakeside Drive, in a neighborhood adjacent to Fairview Lake, for a report of a child in the lake.

At the scene, deputies and fire crews found a 5-year-old girl unresponsive. Fire crews immediately tried lifesaving measures, including CPR. Medical staff kept attempting CPR in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, MCSO said, but the child could not be arrived.
