Less than 24 hours after UCF defeated North Carolina handily last Saturday, Knights offensive line coach Shawn Clark passed away. He had been hospitalized on Sept. 9 with a medical emergency.

"The reaction of our players and coaches to the news this morning is a testament to Shawn's character and the impact he had on every life that he touched," UCF head coach Scott Frost said on Sunday. "He was loved."

In the days that followed, the Knights worked through their grief while also preparing for their Big 12 opener. UCF (3-0) visits Kansas State (1-3, 0-1) on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
