Citilink has overcome the $2.5 million deficit it faced last year and now has a balanced budget for 2026.
CEO John Metzinger presented the public transportation service’s 2026 budget to the City Council on Tuesday night for approval. During that presentation, he said Citilink overcame a lot in the last year.
“It seemed impossible last year,” Metzinger said. “Certainly, it’s been stressful, but we’ve had great cooperation from our employees and from the community. We’ve found some new sources of funding that are short-term funding sources to sustain us for a couple years.”
Metzinger said those sources include a 20% increase in fare prices, 7% more riders last month and $900,000 in federal service transportation funding for the next two years. Two factors that helped Citilink reach a bala
