LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A claim from President Trump about a link between Tylenol and autism has rattled the medical world in the last 24 hours.
President Trump spoke at a press conference Monday, claiming there is a link between acetaminophen and autism, and encouraging pregnant women not to take Tylenol.
“So, taking Tylenol is not good, I’ll say it: it’s not good. For this reason, they are strongly recommending that women limit Tylenol use during pregnancy unless medically necessary,” said Trump.
But, autism advocates say rhetoric without strong claims to back it up can be harmful to those working towards solutions for those impacted by autism.
“Instead of looking for what causes it, you need to look for how you can help families,” said Rebecca Thompson, treasurer for the Autism Soc
