HOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) -A proposed data center in Howell Township is drawing mixed reactions.

The plan would rezone nearly 1,000 acres of farmland for the facility. On Tuesday, the public had a chance to comment. News 10 was there:

It was a packed house at the Howell Township Planning Commission meeting Tuesday night. So much so that it had to be moved to the high school auditorium. Residents gathered to share their views on the proposed data center.

“Why is something that has such a large impact on our community not on the ballot?” said one resident.

Developers say the project could bring hundreds of high-paying jobs, millions of dollars in tax revenue and infrastructure upgrades for the area. However, most residents say they’re opposed to the idea.
