PG&E customers are seeing some relief from high bills after a 2% rate decrease took effect on September 1, saving the average household about $5 per month. The utility says the reduction follows completion of wildfire safety projects and emergency repairs that had temporarily added costs. Customers will also receive a $58 California Climate Credit automatically on bills as early as October. At the same time, PG&E continues replacing 3 million aging smart meters, which has led to estimated bills. The company says any overcharges will be corrected, with refunds applied retroactively up to three years.
