INDIANAPOLIS — Residents in the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood are deciding where they land on a proposal to transform 13 acres of vacant land into a data center.

The property, located at 2505 N. Sherman Dr., is the site of the former Sherman Drive-In Theater. It closed in 1983 and has since been demolished.

Now, the tech startup Metroblok wants to build a data center on that land, and a lot of residents aren't happy.

In a packed room at the Frederick Douglass Family Center, residents met with the developers of Metroblok, including CEO Ernest Popescu.

Leaders with the One Voice community organization, who helped organize the meeting, told 13News and other media that filming Tuesday's meeting was not allowed, saying it was to encourage open discussion.
