Months of Meet and Confer sessions have come to a conclusion with the City of Lubbock and the Lubbock Professional Police Association (LPPA) reaching a non-monetary compensation agreement.

However, the agreement needed the OK from the Lubbock City Council — which overwhelmingly supported the agreement and vowed to revisit it again next year to look at financial compensation for law enforcement.

"I commend the city staff and the association for continuing to work forward, work on this and bring forward to us today some really important things," said Mayor Mark McBrayer. "Recruitment, hiring is so important, and the physical fitness part of it, I think, is a great aspect of it, too."
