EL CENTRO — Central Union High School students had an extra reason to smile this week when local nonprofit Sabrina’s Wish set up shop on campus, offering racks of free dresses for homecoming.

The initiative, led by Sabrina's Wish CEO Lydia Robles, aims to make formal wear accessible to students who may not otherwise be able to afford it.

“We are giving away dresses for homecoming,” Robles said with a laugh. She explained that while prom gowns are usually long and more formal, “for homecoming, they just use short dresses.”

The selection included more than 200 dresses in a range of styles. “Today, I had approximately 225,” Robles said. “The girls love them.” Robles also had a rack of menswear for the boys.
