India is likely to receive a new batch of cheetahs by December this year, with negotiations underway with the three African nations of Kenya, Botswana, and Namibia. Officials confirmed that 8 to 10 cheetahs are expected as part of this transfer.

The move is part of India's ongoing efforts to restore its cheetah population, which had become extinct in the country decades ago.

Kenya, Botswana, and Namibia have indicated they are open to sending cheetahs to India. Authorities expect that talks with one of these countries will reach a conclusion before December, paving the way for the arrival of the new animals.
