Former Rockford-area boys high school coaching legend Mike Winters is taking on a new challenge, and it started Monday night.

Winters, who coached high school boys basketball teams at Oregon, Jefferson, Rock Falls, Boylan and Harlem until 2023, was recently hired as the Rockford University women’s basketball head coach ― his first college job. While he doesn't expect it to be a long-term thing, he's certainly putting all he has into it.
