The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has set a record this fall, enrolling the largest freshman class in its history.

The university welcomed 3,214 first-time freshmen, a 4.8% increase from last year. It’s the third consecutive year UL Lafayette has enrolled more than 3,000 new freshmen, the school announced.

Dr. DeWayne Bowie, vice president for Enrollment Management, said the growth reflects Lafayette’s appeal as a college town and the university’s academic reputation.

“Students and families are choosing the University because it offers excellent academics, a fun and supportive environment, and top-tier research opportunities,” Bowie said.
