SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) - Authorities in California say a 12-year-old boy was arrested after driving off in his parents’ car, leading deputies on a chase and striking traffic cones, a parked vehicle and a patrol car.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies first responded after the boy took the car and drove to his former school after 7 a.m. Monday. He left the area, hitting some traffic cones.

Deputies then located the car and tried to stop it, but the boy allegedly led them on a short chase through the neighborhood. The car struck a parked vehicle and a patrol unit, but no one was hurt.

The boy was safely taken into custody and transported to Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.
