JAIPUR: A 15-day-old baby was found abandoned in a forest area in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district. The baby’s lips had been sealed with glue, and a stone was placed inside the mouth, likely to stop the cries from being heard.

A cattle grazer spotted the infant and quickly removed the stone. He then took the baby to a nearby hospital. The child is now under treatment. Police said the incident took place in the Bijolia police station limits of Mandalgarh, near the Sita Kund temple road.

Police have started efforts to trace the baby’s parents. They are checking records of recent deliveries in nearby hospitals and questioning residents of villages near the forest. Officers said it was a miracle the baby survived in such a dangerous area.
