A 15-day-old infant was abandoned with stones filled his mouth in jungle in in Mandalgarh area of Bhilwara district on Tuesday.

As per the authorities, the child’s mouth was stuffed with a stone and sealed with Fevikwik to prevent crying.

The infant was discovered by a herder, who immediately raised the alarm. The child was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment. The incident took place on September 22, afternoon around 2 PM.

Infant found in distress

Head Constable Vijay Singh reported that the infant was found in a jungle adjacent to the road near Sita Ka Kund Temple in Bijaulia. The herder noticed the baby struggling among a pile of stones. Upon removing the stone from the infant’s mouth, the child began crying. Locals immediately admitted the baby to Bijaulia Government Hospital.

Police investigation underway

The police are investigating who abandoned the child. Villagers and residents in the surrounding areas are being questioned to gather leads. Authorities are also reviewing recent delivery records from hospitals in Mandalgarh and Bijaulia to trace the infant’s origin.

Medical condition of the infant

Dr. Mukesh Dhakad, a pediatric specialist at Bijaulia Hospital, said the baby is approximately 15–20 days old. The child had Fevikwik applied to the mouth, and there were burn marks on the right thigh. The infant has been fed milk and, considering the condition, was referred to Bhilwara Higher Center for further care.
