Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday condemned the assault on a journalist and BJP leaders during the September 21 clash at Hejamara, declaring that no alliance partner is above the law. Speaking after visiting the injured at GB Pant hospital, Dr Saha said Tipra Motha supporters launched the unprovoked attack during a clothes distribution programme organised by BJP’s Shimna Mandal.

Journalist Kamal Krishna Jamatia, who was covering the event, was assaulted despite having no political affiliation. BJP Janajati Morcha Vice President Mangal Debbarma also sustained serious head injuries after being overpowered by the attackers. “This is unacceptable. Violence has no place in politics,” Dr Saha stated.
