STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 21-year-old man from Bay Terrace is slowly recovering from devastating physical injuries that he suffered three months ago in an alleged hit-and-run crash on the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Despite his physical challenges, Joseph Donzella of Bay Terrace revealed in an exclusive statement to the Advance/SILive.com that his deepest wounds are emotional because his best friend died after the driver and a third passenger allegedly deserted them as they lay at the side of the road.
