A jury has found that Anthony La was the shooter who fatally pulled the trigger on Sabir Omer in a downtown Hamilton parking lot a little over four years ago.
The 12-person jury handed down their verdict shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday — less than five hours after they’d been given their charge by Superior Court Justice Michael Bordin.
La had pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the broad daylight shooting.
Omer, 19, was killed after being shot twice — once in the head — in the parking lot of the Tim Hortons at 239 King St. W. on Sept. 14, 2021.
