NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- The Oxcart Pantry serves roughly 130 North Olmsted families monthly.
However, now with school in session, the needs of the pantry have changed.
“Every month, we kind of look at our shelves, see what’s low and say that’s the thing we’re gonna collect,” Oxcart Pantry Case Manager Georgia Wilder said.
“But when it gets to be the school year, we always think, let’s start collecting some things that can used when people are packing lunches. So that’s why this month it was peanut butter and jelly, granola bars, chicken or tuna pouches and fruit cups. Those kinds of things that go in a school lunch.”
While pantry applications had decreased since the pandemic, Wilder said they’ve been on the rise of late.
“I would say 80% of our food comes ordered from the Greater Cle
