The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of southeast Michigan, including Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, NWS said.
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, according to the agency. Officials said excessive rain runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. In addition, flooding could occur in poor drainage and urban areas, according to the notice.
The weather service reports that 1-4inches of rain have fallen already in some locations upstream and heavy rain is expected to continue through the morning over the area under the watch. The forecast also calls for a chance of more rain Wednesday afternoon and evening.
