MANSFIELD, La. - The DeSoto Parish School District is taking innovative steps to better prepare students for the rapidly evolving job market, focusing on connecting classroom learning to future careers in science and technology.

School Superintendent Clay Corley said the district is working to ensure students are equipped for success beyond high school, especially as the nature of work continues to shift due to emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

“Twenty or 30 years ago, career fields were much more stable, and we had clear pathways and plans to guide students into those fields,” Corley said. “Today, everything is fast-paced, constantly changing, and it can be daunting to decide where to start.”

To address these challenges, DeSoto Parish has established an AI task force.
