WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) - The City of Williston has adopted a resolution supporting the Williston Ice and Turf Project, pledging one million dollars of taxpayer money annually for the next decade to help fund the new facility.
The project, led by Williston Parks and Recreation District, will feature year-round ice for youth and adult sports, a multi-purpose arena for large events, and space for concerts, trade shows and exhibitions.
The funding comes from the Williams County 1% sales tax, which voters extended in 2024 to support public safety, health and quality-of-life initiatives. The city’s resolution also includes roughly $13 million in infrastructure improvements at Williston Square, the sale of up to 17 acres at a reduced rate, and the dedication of the former Sloulin Field Airport h
