Five dogs die, iguana survives in trailer home fire in south Bismarck

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Five dogs have died in a trailer fire that happened Tuesday afternoon in Bismarck, while an iguana inside the home survived and the residents were uninjured.

The fire happened at a trailer home on the 600 block of Sweet Ave., with firefighters receiving the call at about 4:17 p.m., the Bismarck Fire Department says.

Fire crews arrived on scene five minutes later and found heavy smoke and limited fire in the kitchen area of the home. Smoke was also coming from the front entry of the single-wide trailer house, fire officials say.

Firefighters contained the fire to the kitchen area and quickly extinguished it, while other crews searched inside and removed five dogs and an iguana from the house. Fire officials say only the iguana survived. The residents of the home we
