A 14-year-old boy is in hospital after being stabbed multiple times outside a house in central Hamilton overnight, police say.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with aggravated assault in the incident.

Hamilton police were called to Wilson Street, at Wentworth Street North, around 1 a.m. after a witness reported seeing a male and female fighting and the female allegedly stabbing the male several times in the back and head, said Const. Trevor McKenna.

The 14-year-old boy was taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 15-year-old girl allegedly ran and was arrested nearby with the help of a witness who followed her, he said. She is charged with aggravated assault.
