SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) - The SS Edmund Fitzgerald took its first voyage on Sept. 24, 1958, according to Michigan Sea Grant .

The Fitzgerald sank in November 1975 in Lake Superior, and its story is still being told throughout the region.

“It’s really important to us over in Superior,” said Jordan Stish, Museum Manager at City of Superior Division of Historic Properties. “The Edmund Fitzgerald left for the last time on that fateful day from the docks in Superior. So, there is a really important legacy to us over across the bridge.”
